What are we recruiting for?

We’re looking for a skilled Controls Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team at a busy manufacturing site. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving automation, control, and operational technology systems across the plant — helping to keep production running efficiently and safely

What will you be doing?

You’ll take responsibility for maintaining, developing, and troubleshooting site control systems and networks, while ensuring all automation equipment operates at its best. Working closely with production and engineering colleagues, you’ll lead improvement initiatives, manage system backups, and uphold site security and reliability standards.

• Maintaining and supporting all Operations Technology network systems
• Managing backups and asset security
• Programming and fault-finding across PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
• Leading continuous improvement and automation upgrade projects
• Producing and maintaining accurate technical documentation

What will you bring to the party?

You’ll be an experienced controls or automation engineer with a strong electrical background and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• HNC / City & Guilds / equivalent in Electrical or Controls Engineering (or relevant experience)
• Proven experience in maintaining control systems in a high-volume production setting
• Strong programming and problem-solving experience with:
• Siemens TIA Portal, Step7, WinCC, WinCC 7.5 SCADA
• Rockwell Logix 5, 500, Studio 5000
• Siemens Scalance, Profisafe, and switch management
• ABB, Siemens, and Nidec inverter drives
• CAD/Visio software for documentation
• A proactive approach to improvements, safety, and collaboration
